One of the most coveted coin designs in American history is the Morgan Silver Dollar. Introduced by the United States Mint in 1878, this beloved coin was struck annually until 1904 and then struck one final time in 1921 as the US resumed silver dollar coining after a 17-year break. This design is so popular it has been replicated on various modern bullion collections, including silver bars. Right now, 1 oz SilverTowne Morgan Silver Bars are available at Clutch Precious Bullion.
Each 1 oz SilverTowne Morgan Silver Bar available here comes with protective plastic. These bars are made in the United States by SilverTowne Mint. The primary design field replicates George T. Morgan’s depiction of Lady Liberty from the original Morgan Silver Dollar.
The United States Mint introduced the Morgan Silver Dollar in 1878 after a five-year hiatus in silver dollar production. The Coinage Act of 1873 brought an end to free silver coining in the United States, and as a result, also brought an end to the Seated Liberty Dollar design that had been in production since the 1830s. With the reintroduction of the silver dollar, Assistant Engraver George T. Morgan’s depiction of Lady Liberty was chosen for the obverse design of the coin.
